In this piece, amateur singers grapple collectively with the words and lyrics of the Hallelujah Chorus in a larger, roughly hewn choir. This single channel video piece belies the technical polish and singular triumphant emotional sheen of the typical Hallelujah Chorus. Each person sings by themselves, only what they can remember or recall, in their own time — including the false starts and forgotten words. This piece was developed with the support of an MFA Fellow Residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts (2005-6).
