Laser Talks at Stanford University & UC Berkeley

The Laser Series is an international program that brings artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience. My recent Laser talk at Stanford University, "Everyday Voices: Building a different kind of wall," focused on the role of amateur and collective singing in civic engagement as it has evolved in my own work and in select resonant cultural and historical contexts. I was delighted and moved when near the end of the question period, the audience broke out spontaneously into song (and it was a full house!). You can see more about the program and my amazing co-presenters here.I will present a similar talk at an upcoming UC Berkeley Laser on June 13th, 2018. Check back here soon for more details. Thanks to Pierro Scaruffi and to the Leonardo Art/Science Evening for the invitation and to Curtis Frank for hosting.
